At Castleside Primary School, we teach children to read using the Letters and Sounds phonics programme, which is based around high quality phonic teaching.
Our reading scheme is primarily Oxford Reading Tree, although this scheme is supplemented with a range of books from various categories and styles in order to broaden every child’s reading experience. Books are carefully matched to the phonic ability of each child, enabling them to build confidence with reading from their first term in school.
Help Your Child
You can help your child by ensuring they bring their book bag into school each day, by listening to them read at home and recording it in their reading record with a comment.
