Sports

School Sports

At Castleside Primary School we are extremely proud to be able to take part in a wide range of sports during the academic year. The children have the opportunity to participate in netball, tag rugby, football, cricket, multi-skills, basketball, cheerleading, martial arts, swimming and dance (to name a few!).

Children are given regular opportunity to take part in a range of tournaments and sports festivals both within school, between year groups and with other schools.

In addition to this, thanks to our Lottery Funded all-weather track, we are able to get the children out walking and running every day. We are committed to promoting the benefits of sport and exercise to our children, particularly for good physical and mental health.

Active 30

The Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30 minutes should be in school.

At Castleside Primary School we have achieved 20 minutes of physical activity throughout the day and will continue to do so this year.

Please see the following link for more information about why we encourage children to be active in school and how you can best support your child at home.
